What Happened

Halifax NP965 of 640 Squadron was lost on 2 March 1945 during what proved to be the last Bomber Command raid on Cologne. The aircraft crashed at Floriffoux, in the Namur province of Belgium. All seven crew were killed and are buried at Heverlee War Cemetery.

The memorial at Floriffoux was unveiled on 7 March 2020. Four families attended — two from the United Kingdom and two from Australia — together with military attachés from the Australian and British embassies. The ceremony brought the crew's families together for the first time at the place where their men fell.

Full crew details are not yet confirmed in this record. Further research required.
