About the Crew
Pilot of ME625. Killed when his aircraft was trapped in slipstream and collided with ND981.
Fl/Lt 'Jim' Van Raalte was a 31-year-old Australian serving with the RAAF.
Killed in the collision. Buried at Marsden Churchyard.
Welsh crew member. Buried at Treorchy Cemetery.
Pilot of ND981. Tail torn off by collision with ME625. Buried at Cambridge City Cemetery.
Buried at Alfreton Cemetery, Derbyshire.
Buried at Romford Cemetery, Essex.
Held the Distinguished Flying Medal.
Sole survivor. Bailed out as ND981 broke apart at 1,000 feet. Landed safely.
