Squadron History

No. 207 Squadron RAF flew Lancaster bombers as part of 5 Group, Bomber Command. The squadron is particularly associated with RAF Spilsby in Lincolnshire, where it was based from October 1943 until disbandment. During its time at Spilsby, the squadron flew 540 operations, losing 154 crews and with 511 men killed — 104 of whom have no known grave. The primary memorial to the squadron is a plaque in All Saints Church, Great Steeping, Lincolnshire, dedicated on 8 May 1992, recording all 511 names.
