This Fence Has Been Erected in Remembrance of the Brave Crew of Young Airmen Who Were Killed After a Successful Bombing Raid on Mainz, 12th August 1942 They Were of 15 Squadron Based at Wyton, Cambridgeshire. They Were Flying Stirling Bomber Ls-c. N3756 Crew (6 Names) (1 *name) *sole Survivor the Aircraft Was Damaged by Flak and Enemy Fighter Fire. After Making Two Attempts to Land at Wattisham Airfield, Due to Engine Trouble and Injuries to Some of the Crew, the Aircraft Finally Crash Landed in This Pond Whilst Making One Final Attempt to Reach Wattisham.
