Plaque: (Bomber Command badge) In this area lie the remains of Short Stirling EH977 Coded -Z of 1660 Heavy Conversion Unit. Based at RAF Swinderby. EH977 crashed on 5th November 1944 after an engine failure. Killing all of the crew. In Memory of [crew names listed on memorial] Commissioned and erected by the Lincolnshire Aircraft Recovery Group for the 70th Anniversary on behalf of the families.
