IWM records the cairn memorial at the crash site of Whitley N1498 on Carn a Choire Mhoir, near Tomatin in the Highlands. The memorial commemorates personnel killed when the aircraft of 19 OTU crashed on 6 January 1942.

Detailed crash site documentation of Whitley Mk.V N1498 from 19 OTU RAF Kinloss. The aircraft flew into high ground when descending through cloud during an evening training flight. Four crew were killed and three were injured. The pilot ignored the last bearing obtained before the crash.
